TD 10 has had its LAST ADVISORY as it has completely lost its convection.

High school football is starting up again around these parts today, for my son.

A sign that fall is almost upon us and school for him.

Yeah, I saw the lil 'punks' out there practicing as I did my run earlier this afternoon. I used to play football so I can say 'punk' *grin*

Here's hoping my high school improves on its 4-7 debacle from last year!

Sorry guys for not commenting recently, my season also has gotten underway... the school/storm season. Challenging to balance both when the tropics are active. Welcome to the group philaweather, I like your site. Good to see someone blogging the weather in my home city, was born and raised in the suburbs, but have always considered myself a philly boy. I'll bet you remember Jan 6-7, 96 and Feb 21, 83 like they were yesterday. While the tropics are gearing up I am working on my classroom BEFORE teacher week begins! See you all later.

Actually I'm a recent transplant to the East Coast. I'm a Minnesotan by birth -- lived in Philly since 2001 but I remember PD2 VERY well and the '96 blizzard (because I had family that were stuck in Minneapolis trying to get back home to the East Coast!!!)

Thanks for the compliments about my blog.

I, too, am a teacher. I'm sorry that you don't feel happy about you son's high school.

No, not all high schools are like this.

There are good cops and bad cops.
Ditto shoe salesmen, doctors, lawyers, and Indian chiefs.

There are good teachers and bad teachers.
There are good schools and bad schools.
The are good systems and bad systems.
As you have found out, good coaches and bad coaches.

And, for all, everything in between.

How are the academics? Is the school accredited?

Here in Maryland we are "approved" by the "Middle States" something-something-something.

I'm sure Mass. has something similar to judge a school's academic caliber.

Are you upset because your son didn't make the team?

Is it too late (or too $$) to consider private school?

One more thing: don't ever forget that ALL coaches LIKE to win, but SOME coaches HAVE to win...

Good luck!

Pray for snow...

TB- It isn't like I'm fuming because he didn't make the team, he did, and he is likely to start for the JV team as a wide receiver and safety.

All of my kids have gone through private school, but he decided he was sick of it and wanted to try public school. Maybe it is just a blast of reality.

Finally, I guess a school is what you make of it. It could be very good to you or you could make it the subject of regrets.

There are politics in everything I guess, sports, business, and what not. We'll just have to make a name for ourselves and not sweat the small stuff. I just could not believe the nurses lost all of his medical records and told him he wouldn't be able to practice on Monday.

Luckily, I got a copy of his physical, even with his doctor on vacation, so everything is squared away now.

Now let's forget about that and pray for snow like you said.

Tropical Storm Jose

Ole Jose?

This looks like a stronger Gert....

Sorry gang, been out of touch with start of school. I have an update ready to post this morning. It will start to get mighty busy very soon, like now. Jose snuck up on us, and remnants of TD10 are in Hispanola stirring up trouble, while several waves off Africa have potential. Will soon be plenty of tropics to talk about for everyone. Please forgive the delay.
