5:40 AM 1/11 (Forecaster Mike) – Happy Friday everyone! Today brings a temporary break in the warming trend, from the mild highs in the 50s to start the week and chances at the 60s this weekend. Chilly air from the NE will try to slide back in to the south today, abating the warming trend ever so briefly.
TODAY – Mostly cloudy skies will be the story today as highs only peak in the upper 40s before cooling tonight. A few scattered light showers are possible through the overnight, but we really won’t see much precipitation.
SATURDAY- Cloudy skies to start will see partial sunshine later in the day. Highs will be quite mild, jumping up to the upper 50s to lower 60s through the afternoon! Warmth will flood out ahead of the cold front.
SUNDAY – Skies will remain partly sunny to mostly cloudy across the region, but highs will surge into the low to mid 60s. After temperatures peak on Sunday we will start to cool down slowly, with chances for rainfall increasing for Monday through Tuesday. Stay tuned and have a wonderful Friday!

2012 Weather Highlights:
1. Rainiest Day: When Hurricane Sandy passed through, MD was in the SW or the wet sector of the storm, enough to drop 5.51” of rain at BWI on October 29th.
2. Coldest Day: Very early on in the year, BWI saw a temperature of 13º on January 4th, making that the coldest temperature seen all year.
3. Warmest Day: A whopping 104º was reached twice through 2012, once on July 7th at the end of the first heat wave, and again on the 18th in the middle of the next.
4. Snowiest Day: With only 3.2” of snow, 2012 saw significantly less than the average of 20.1” at BWI. Believe it or not, the snowiest day of the year was actually December 26th when 1.0” fell at the airport.
5. Windiest Day: The strongest winds seen all day was 47 mph achieved during the height of the destructive Derecho on June 29th.
We are now leaving all that behind heading into 2013, the first week of which looks rather cold and rather dry.

Forecaster Mike-
2013 has been off to a dry start, but the rain maker in the Midwest will bring a chance for some light drizzle. However, it won’t amount to much precipitation at all, only set the stage for more rain to enter by early next week.
TONIGHT – Clouds will be on the increase through the night as lows drop into only the mid to upper 30s to near 40º towards the south.
FRIDAY – For the end of the work week, more clouds than sun will be present with some light showers late in the day carrying over into the nighttime. Highs are expected to top out in the low to mid 50s.
SATURDAY – Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sun with highs soaring into the lower 60s across the region! Even though Sunday may not have much sun after that, temperatures may surpass Saturday’s highs and hit the mid 60s. Stay tuned and have a wonderful Friday!
Surf & Sail-Winter Edition
Sixty and Sunny.
The forecast for Sunday calls for sunny skies and an on-beach high temperature of 60 degrees.
I'll say it again: SUNNY AND 60 ON SUNDAY!
Do you "like" this weather?
Will you be taking a "mini vacation" to Ocean City, MD - The Official Page? or Fenwick Island, DE? The water might be cold but, it will be a gorgeous day for a walk on the beach plus, dogs are allowed on most beaches this time of year... so that always makes for fun!
Before we get to Sunday, we will need to deal with some rain Friday evening that could linger into early Saturday morning (along with some fog). It should burn-off by mid afternoon, giving way to sunny skies and an on-beach high temperature of 57 degrees on Saturday.
Not a bad weekend, at all!! Get one last "taste of summer" before some arctic air arrive late next week. Thanks toCarousel Resort Hotel & Condominiums for this great picture!

Weather Statements
Forecaster Jason:
We will have mostly cloudy skies on Friday with high temperatures in the low 50s. There will be a chance for light rain showers during the afternoon and evening hours, so those planning on being out should keep this in mind. If you don't like the typical wintertime temperatures that we usually experience, I hope you are enjoying this mild stretch!
Forecaster Nikki:
Cloudy skies will fill the day on Friday, as our next system brings us showers, especially in the afternoon and evening. Highs will only reach around 50°, accompanied by SE winds 5-10mph. Showers will continue into the evening and overnight hours with lows only dropping into the mid 40s. Patchy fog is also possible overnight, which could cause some traveling problems.
As we head into Saturday, cloudy skies and patchy fog will start off the morning, but will gradually become partly sunny. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast for Saturday evening, accompanied by lows in the upper 40s.
