Fantastic Friday Kicks Off
Maryland State BBQ Bash
Maryland State BBQ Bash
7:00 AM EDT 8/10/12 (Forecaster Mike) – Opening day of the Bel Air BBQ Bash in Harford County, Maryland is finally here! However, the weather is
providing us with some unwelcome concerns to follow. Although the East has some challenging weather on the horizon, our Forecast Team will be providing the event organizers at Bel Air with "on-site decision support" just in case! There is good weather news to report: On the other side of the cold front, many of you will
be enjoying the most beautiful day in months!
SEVERE THREAT – The Mid-Atlantic Severe Team will be on high alert on Friday as storms affect regions like the Central Maryland region. As much of the country badly needs the rain, those
who like to see the bright side of things can look forward to some drought
relief. Among our concerns:
- For the morning hours today, showers and storms will be weaker and more isolated, but they are expected to become more widespread later in the day.
- Along with the heavy rain threat from these storms, we also have to watch for gusty winds and frequent lightning for the main concerns as a strong cold front races through the region.

HEAT RELIEF??? – Is it finally here?
The Central and Northern Plains will have one of the coolest days in several
weeks after this strong cold front plows through. The southern Plains will
still be scorching, but heat-sick cities like Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago
will all be much cooler! Much of Missouri will see highs in the 80s while
Chicago and many other regions like the Southeast Wisconsin zone may not even hit 80ยบ
at all, being capped with highs in the mid 70s!

TROPICAL TROUBLES – The Tropical Zone
is keeping a very close eye on the a few areas of concern in the Atlantic
Basin. Ernesto has made a second landfall in Mexico, weakening to a Tropical Depression, and it is
expected to cross over into the Pacific. Interestingly, It may re-strengthen on
the other side of Mexico, and depending on if it holds its circulation while
crossing, it will either get the next name on the list for the Eastern Pacific
names, or it will maintain the name Ernesto.
Additionally, there is the concern of Tropical Depression Seven, which may gain tropical storm strength in the next few advisories. TD7 is expected to strengthen as it moves into favorable waters and heads westward to the Caribbean. Another area of Low pressure has just pulled off of Africa, but is already showing signs of development. We will keep you updated on this situation as well!
