The chorus of that song reads like this: Monday, I could wait till Tuesday, If I make up my mind. Wednesday would be fine, Thursday's on my mind. Friday'd give me time, Saturday could wait. But Sunday'd be too late.
I know intuitively that some of you have been waiting and wondering if there is any more forecasting to be done, or are we really done with big storms. It would be easy to claim that winter is over, given the climatologically poor performance of snowfall south of the Mason Dixon Line this year. Even Philly and New York are way below average thus far, despite the 13 or so inches they received in the January 22 storm.
So as we embark on this next and final phase of winter, I hope that the upcoming pattern will more than fulfill many of our pent-up hopes and dreams for a big snowstorm. You know you want it as bad as I do... a bunch of days off school or work, to just enjoy one good snowfall. You want a brief return to a blissful serene day watching the setting winter sun under a dazzling blue sky above, and below is that golden glow of sunlight shining on a fresh, sparkling mantle of beautiful white powder. You gaze at this with a calm heart as you sip down a mug of mint herbal tea and apply the hot pads to your things and back, reviewing the day's work of removing that 18 or so inches of fluffy snow from your walk. You find yourself reveling in the fact that nature has finally taken the time to slow life down for us just a bit, and rewarded our patience with a little bit of her majesty. In seven days from now, that fantasy may be a lot more like reality, in so many ways.
