"Relax. I'll need some information first.
Just the basic facts." Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY everyone, hope it is as relaxing of a day for you as Monday can be. Given that there was snow and sleet to greet commuters in DC and Baltimore, the day probably did not start out very relaxing. But at least the weather this week will not bring too much heartache.
FIRST, JUST THE WEATHER
Monday: Snow and sleet early in DC-Baltimore 95 corridor will give way to rain, which moves up eastern seaboard to Philly, New York and Boston later in the day. No chance for snow out of this except for the areas which got it last week.
Tuesday: Rain continues, warmer with southerly winds ahead of the approaching cold front.
Philly on south, temps near 60, from New York north to Boston, temps holding in 50's.
Wednesday: Warm early in the day, colder late as front passes. Minor snow/ice threat in the evening into early morning Thursday as cold air sweeps in behind front. Not a major storm. Any accumulations anywhere would be less than 3"
Thursday: Much colder as the first of a series of Arctic Highs begins to re-establish control over the Northeast due to a negative NAO. Be prepared to see your NWS forecasts be off by as much as 10 degrees for temps late in the week.
Friday: Cold air remains in place as next storm system begins to move out of the southwest. This will be the first of a set of storms to affect the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic starting on Sunday of next week and continue for several days beyond that. This will be the setup for what appears to be a prolonged period of cold and storminess which is probably going to be the final phase of winter.
So until then, it is another week just to become comfortably numb.
