MARCH 2007: DEADLIER THAN A LION'S DEN

Alabama Tornado 1

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of life among students and teachers at Enterprise High School in Alabama. It is a horrific situation, especially for parents, and words cannot describe the soul-wrenching grief which has descended on that sweet little town. Imagine sending your child to school thinking they will be safe, to never see them alive again. I cannot even begin to fathom the horror some of those parents have now faced.

A DEADLY STORM WHICH IMPACTED THE SOUTHEAST AND MIDWEST TODAY IS MOVING INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST TONIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WILL SPAWN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, TORRENTIAL RAIN, STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND POSSIBLE TORNADOES THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. THE FRIDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE VERY CHALLENGING DUE TO WIND-SWEPT RAIN, LOCALIZED FLOODING, DOWNED TREES AND ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.

BEFORE YOU RETIRE FOR THE EVENING, PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO CHECK YOUR LOCAL NWS FORECAST AND YOUR CURRENT RADAR FOR POSSIBLE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM/TORNADO WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN YOUR AREA. IF YOUR BASEMENT IS PRONE TO FLOODING, CONSIDER IMPLEMENTING YOUR "PRE-FLOOD" PRECAUTIONS THIS EVENING, AS WELL AS SECURE OUTDOOR ITEMS.
