KEEP YOUR EYE ON FLORENCE

Florence 1 \

Yes it's a long way off and a lot could happen between now and 120 hours from now. However, those of you who know what September can bring in from the tropics also know this is the time of year to get nervous when one sees a little something brewing in that part of the Atlantic, especially south of 15 degrees N. Thanks to my readers for pointing out that TD 6 had arrived, and once it gets named I'll start the next round of analyses and updates.

RAY- I'M startn to think that Gordon will be the bigger threat.

I am not going to get all tied with these storms. I'm going to expect nothing and let them surprise me.

Looks like Flo will just harmlessly go out to sea between the Outer Banks and Bermuda, affecting shipping lanes...BOSTON TO BERMUDA CRUISES???

WATCH OUT!

RAY- Yea, it looks that way Eric, but don't put too much weight into the computer models until Florence gets her act together a little more. Climatolagy heavily favors out to sea also, but read the NHC 5pm discussion: EACH RUN HAS SHIFTED THE TRACK A LITTLE FARTHER TO THE WEST.
GIVEN THAT THE MID- TO UPPER-LEVEL FLOW IS FORECAST TO BE
WEST-SOUTHWESTERLY NORTH OF THE RIDGE AXIS...AND THAT A LARGE
MID-LATITUDE TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO DIG INTO THE CENTRAL U.S. BY DAY
5...THE MODELS MAY BE OVERDOING THE AMOUNT OF SHORTWAVE ENERGY
FORECAST TO GENERATE THE WEAKNESS IN THE RIDGE. THE OFFICIAL
FORECAST TRACK IS JUST AN UPDATE OF THE PREVIOUS TRACK...AND
REMAINS A LITTLE SOUTH OF THE MODEL CONSENSUS AND ALONG THE
SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE NHC MODEL GUIDANCE ENVELOPE.

FLO WILL BE A NO SHOW...my final prediction.

RAY- If ur referring to the US, yes, Bermuda, maybe not!

F, as in Florence...

Fish, as in Fish Storm.

Ok...a Bermuda Fish Storm.

RAY- If this thing goes 50-100mi west of the forecast track, than the Canadian maratimes, maybe downeast Maine, and possibly even Cape Cod could have a big problem.
Unlikely, but possible. I still say Bermuda or bust.

This storm is going to the Hurricane Graveyard...the North Atlantic...

As Ray would say...NEXT!!!

What a day here in Boston. Temps are in the mid 80's, low humidity and not a cloud in the sky..yet.

HOWEVER...possible lows in the upper 30's in suburbia tomorrow night and Monday morning. Highs around 60 degrees Monday. Now thats fall.

Now excuse me, I am going to enjoy this summer weather.

Hey Ray...was pretty cold here in Boston last night, especially outside the city as you said last night, but tonight's even COLDER!!!

Right now its quarter to 10 and my thermometer is reading 44 degrees and it feels it. Believe it or not, but you can see your breath perfectly out there..its really humid/moist.

Tonight theres FROST ADVISORIES in NW Massachusetts. Temps out there easily into the 32-35 degree range. Where I live...closer to 39-43...most suburbs in the lower 40's...Boston 49 or 50.

Tomorrow night much of the same then near 80 for this weekend!

This weather is going to get everyone sick...40-50 degree swings is not good on the system.

Yup..Gordon is a NEXT!!!!!!!!!!

RAY- I have 45 aqgain Eric. Interesting to note that the last time(1995) that we had a hurricane season dominated by a semipermanent recurvature inducing east coast trough it carried over into our snowiest winter eva!!!! : ) I hope all these fishflingers lead to a winter of e coast troughs again!
