SPECIAL TEAM UPDATE: 5:30 AM EDT Friday 6/3/2011 With the 2011 Hurricane Season now underway, we would like to provide our readers with this special report on important changes within our team and our efforts in hurricane forecasting. This morning, members of our Maryland Team will be presenting to the MD Emergency Management Association in Ocean City, MD. Our team hurricane forecast for this year, as released below, and verification of the 2010 forecast will be among the lead topics.

STAFF UPDATE: As of 12:00 PM today, Lead Forecaster Greg Jackson of Carroll County in Central MD Team will be transferring leadership to new Lead Forecaster Connor Meehan, a soon-to-be senior from Atholton High School in Howard County. Connor has served in numerous capacities on our team this year, including Lead Winter Stormcaster - where on January 26, 2011 he led efforts to inform the public and commuters in the Washington-Baltimore metro area of what we later called the "Snow Monsoon" event. Connor has also been a Lead Participant in the Mid-Atlantic Severe Weather Team, and spent many hours during the April and May tornado outbreaks collaborating with our multi-state team to repost NWS warnings and statements in several zones. Welcome to the bridge, Forecaster Connor!

Greg Jackson will take the helm of the "Three Rivers" Zone in southwest Pennsylvania as he begins to attend California University of Pennsylvania this fall as a freshman in Earth & Environmental Science. Words alone cannot express the gratitude our entire team extends to Greg, also known as "Winterman", for his dedication since 2009 to helping build our team into the widely-recognized and relied upon brand of student-centered weather forecasting in the Eastern U.S. today. Thanks Greg for all you have done, we salute you. (Mr. Foot - Chairman and Advisor)
