5:20 PM EST 1/13/12 | MAJOR MID-WINTER WARMUP POSSIBLE BY NEXT WEEKEND | Long Range Forecaster Nic Robeson of High Point, NC filed this report earlier today about the growing possibility of a significant warm-up across the Southern Plains, Mid-South and even into the East by next weekend.

The red line show on this 4-panel of computer model projection for next weekend shows areas of the country which may see upper level temperatures reach 20 degrees Celsius. That could translate into highs in the 70's for a large part of the Southern & Central Plains, Mid-South and Southeast. Visit his overview of the January 21-23 possibilities via this link on liveweatherblogs.com.

Sunny a cold with a high barely reaching 32. For most of the game but escpecialy for early tailgate it will be in the 20s! It will be a nice day and at least finally feel like winter. Our snow hopes are dead for the month of January aside from a scattered snow shower here or there mixed with rain (pre or post frontal precip type events) Enjoy taking off from storm tracking for the next two weeks and use that time to focus on football! I know the money I have saved from heating has allowed me more free cash to feed my other vices! Enjoy the sun and the Ravens Big Win 8-)

ok, major warmup for next weekend; I'm off to the beach. May as well make the best of a warm winter weekend; and I'm with Andy, I'm loving the energy bills this winter; it even makes the rising gas prices somwhat easier to tolerate.
