Worth staying up to see

Photo by reader John W. a student in Baltimore County, Maryland

8:55 AM EDT 5/4/12 (Forecaster Foot) As we prepare for an exciting weekend of events and forecasting around the country, our Mid-Atlantic Team wanted to first share some epic photos submitted last night by the Central Maryland readers.* Several slow moving storms crossed from Pennsylvania into Maryland, and between 10:30 and 11:30, readers in the Baltimore metro area captured these amazing shots. A fist bump to you all for sharing your weather with us!  *Link to forecast zone in Facebook

This brief event and fun engagement we had with readers is an example of the thrill and advantage of our locally-revelant reporting among those right in your own neighborhood. The best part? While some are waiting for Local on the 8's, one of our 60+ forecasters around the U.S. has already posted a local forecast in your area on Facebook, and is standing by to answer a question. We enjoy interaction with those who share our passion for weather and climate, and we look forward to seeing your photos in the next storm.

Showing the scientific twist, she took time to place a quarter for scale.
