10:00 AM EDT 9/6 (Forecaster Shundra S.) With the arrival of Astronomical Autumn  just 2 weeks away, Mother Nature sure is making certain we know summer is still with us! Here's a regional roundup from our forecasters around the U.S.

SULTRY IN THE SOUTH CENTRAL - A heat wave continues in the South Central Plains. Temperatures will rise into the 100s in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. A heat advisory is in effect for Eastern Oklahoma. A possible isolated shower in that region in the afternoon.

NO SURPRISE IN THE SOUTHEAST - Someone left the heater on full in many states this week, including Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana,Alabama and Georgia. Expect temperatures in the mid 90s in Mississippi and 100s in Arkansas and Louisiana. A Heat Advisory is in effect for parts of Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. Georgia will see another day of showers and thunderstorms in their area.

MAKING HEADWAY IN THE MID-ATLANTIC: Some of the cooler weather is working its way across the Mid-Atlantic. A cold front will push through the region late this week bringing showers and thunderstorms to the area.

STORMS DOWN BY THE RIVER:  Expect some strong to severe thunderstorms in the Upper Mississippi Valley area into the weekend as well. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin and low 90s in Illinois.

Have a great day everyone and just remember-- tomorrow is Friday!
