In Mass the forecast busted terribly. What appeared and was forecast to be 2-4 inches rain snow mix was in fact 20. A reverse bust so to speak. This storm and the wind direction associate with it proved too much for the models and even the most seasoned mets.

I'm all in for Spring weather and warmth. Brushing off all the dust from the fishing rods and crab traps. Getting ready to clean up the garage and put the snowblower away, then I noticed one thing, A COLD SNOW THREAT for next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pattern is still anomalously cold for mid March, even more so than it was for our bust of a storm which only had marginal cold that was dashed with an east wind.

Don't put away your shovels or snowblowers yet. I'm not forecasting a snowstorm at all just yet, but if we were to EVER get a RARE event in Mid March this is the kind of pattern that COULD deliver it.

From the movie Dumb and Dumber " What's the chance that a gal like you would date a guy like me? Like 1 in a Million, YES!!!! You are saying there is a chance!!!!!

Unfortunately if you are in Spring mode like I am, our odds are better than Dumb and Dumber that Spring is delayed somewhat and next weekend will feature some white to go with your Green. At a minimum it will be nasty cold for this time of year.

no no.... I cant get sucked in again.. plus it is spring sports time - bring on beautiful days like today!

I pulled the trigger on the fuel drain and storage of the snow blower. All put away and out of the garage. You know that this means there will be a storm now where I will need it! I knew the pattern looked interesting but now the euro shows a major winter storm for Monday March 18th. Way to early to take it seriously. If it verified as currently depicted it would be 1 foot plus type of storm. This storm has plenty of cold air to work with so it is not the same marginal cold airmass bust like the last system for our region. Do I buy it? NO WAY THIS FAR OUT, BUT THE PATTERN IS FAVORABLE SO IT IS POSSIBLE.

::shakin' head vehemently:: N-O! no no no....

I cannot get invested in this one....last storm was heart-breaker, so I moved onto Spring!

I always forget to drain the snowthrower gas...which is why I always have a clean carb come next winter...because I have to tear it down and clean it out from the cruddy old gas. Overrated pasttime. Trust me. Drain 'em!

"You know you want to, Need.

What kind?

ravensbbr said...

Well, Need, generally chocolate chip, but it depends on the day...

I hear ya though, bud, it's been a year of high hope and then disappointments all around, but hey, we coulda said that too when the Ravens lost 4 of their last 5...

One last snowstorm hurrah!!! (then baseball and fishing for all)

Well, lord help this area if this storm DOES pan out on the 18th (or there abouts)... NO one is gonna believe ANY met saying "get prepared"!!

NeedaSnowday said...

Ughh, we traded Q to SF so a lil rain tonight is appropriate ::tear drop::

Hey guys, why don't you use fuel stabilizer? It works great. I do it with all my equipment. Mower, snow blower, tiller ect!

ravensbbr said...

Mike, the one year I tried it, it gummed everything up worse then ever. What kind do you use that works well?

ravensbbr said...

Need, you said it, we are toast. Let it rain. We just "traded" the real heart and soul of our team.

Looks like there is good agreement that the storm cuts west of us. That means rain. There might be some non accumulating snow prior to this, but this time of year you need to go big or go home. Looks like we are going home. Happy Spring as far as snowblowing and shoveling goes. Next week will be cold but signs are April could get off to a nice toasty start.

Saw snow flurries listed on NWS for tomorrow before 11A and before 11P, also listed for Sunday night.
I'll TAKE snow flurries ... that's how snow deprived I AM.

Needy ... I'll let you know what the birds say. Saw a LOT of them out on the ground in the POURING rain today.

Thanks, Mike. Will give it a try.

Joe B. is a good met.

I like how he's not afraid to call things like he sees them, like calling BS on the global warming PC agenda...

Mike Cheuvront said...

I just made those same comments on margusity's blog yeasterday! You must have seen it? If not go look on Accu Weather.

ravensbbr said...

Nope, didn't see that, but that's cool! Great minds think alike, huh?

Justin Berk is also of this school of thought (still think that's part of why they drummed him out at WMAR...)

Imagine how much fun this current precip pattern would have been a month or two ago...
