Is it me, or does this just kind of feel like one of the situations where we end up not getting much of anything? There doesn't seem to be a high degree of confidence.

Patricia said...

is this the light fluffy stuff or the heavy wet crap?

Unknown said...

I am not excited about this. Maybe I'll get to work from home at least...

genser95 said...

It's a pretty ambitious call by NWS, except maybe right along the Mason-Dixon Line. But there will be a lot of upper-level energy (look at the radar), and I'm not sure the guidance can predict exactly where the big spots will be.

NeedaSnowday said...

Double whammy for you Dollar... Peyton and the Broncos won...and... Potential snow event.... Hope you get a day to work from home!

Unknown said...

Right? I didn't watch one snap of the game. We left the neighbors when Lady Gaga was singing. Too much crap to do around the house! :)

I think we will be closer to 6" in Baltimore and the further north closer to 9". Yet as always time will tell.

Really cooking here in Harford starting to worry I think temps are gonna be a problem for a while hopefully heavy rates will overcome the warmth. Already in the mid 40s yikes.

I have an evening activity that I run for adults from 7-930 in Severna park. Clean up usually has us out of the building by 1030. Timing of snow seems unpredictable. Cancel activity?

Storm said...

well I'm leaving work early at 4 to go get snow boots at SRI in Reisterstown:)

Glad for Peyton. Still don't like Elway. Now don't like Cam as well, what a diva.

Hope this one pans out tonight!

Storm said...

@ravensbbr I feel you on that....Cam just needs to grow up!!

Unknown said...

Elway was part of a cheating organization (they manipulated the salary cap to keep stars) and now he's running a team that I dislike a lot. Their defense was really good though (albeit a bit lucky on the fumble recovery side).

Denver also handles snow a bit better than the Maryland area.

Let's hear it for ANDY!!

Andy is the man!!!!

Mrs. A said...

Yes Andy is the man, usually right on top of these storms. So my forecast is schools closed Tuesday and 2 hour late opening on Wednesday. That should create enough chaos for the week!

Morpheus said...

With Temp's a bit to high and being at the bottom of the projected deformations zone the 2-3 inches the models have for us means this is a non-event for mid-Prince Georges county on south. Would be happy for a surprise but not getting my hopes up. Have fun up north/West. Wish the artic air was available after the last storm so we could have enjoyed it more and not just watch it melt as soon as we dug out.

Destiny Cruise said...

Wishing we'd get hit down in Southern, MD. I need another snow day! Hoping another whopper of a storm hits the area, before spring. Happy that Peyton won the Super Bowl, but lets not beat up on Cam to much. Peyton did the same thing back in 2010 when the Colts lost to the New Orleans Saints. Be safe!

BioPat said...

Looks like the storm may be moving further west. I am seeing we are now under a watch with snow totals reduced??

BioPat said...

OK maybe I stand corrected on the most recent update. I happened to be watching the 4pm WJZ news and was surprised to find that what they are reporting does not agree with NWS. I guess we will just need to wait and see but the sunlight dispersed rapidly and the temperature is dropping which will set up this evening's rain which will give way to snow.

Morpheus said...

New England is really getting clobbered!

NeedaSnowday said...

Rain moments away.... balmy 45 degrees... confidence is floundering with this event?! Still seeing a warning here BP, but feeling uncertain about the potential snow.. the control freak in me hates being in limbo like this! Trust in Foots & Andy, yes?

Morpheus said...

The national radar mosaic or this storm looks like a Rorschach test, I see a lady with big hair flying backwards with an hawk swooping down on her. Needa just stare into the mosaic - all will work out!

NeedaSnowday said...

Hey Morph, speaking of NE getting clobbered... Brady getting booed at the SB MVP Introductions and 5+ pages on a google search - PRICELESS!

Morpheus said...

If you say so Needa - I did not watch the SB. From the looks of posts on Foots I am the odd man out with regards to being a sports spectator. Backwards flying lady is heading right towards us, do you see that or am I crazy!

Westsidehideaway said...

Hi Everyone. We are ready for whatever comes here on the Westside of Baltimore. I hope we get a good couple of inches before daybreak. Have fun everyone!!

Snowplease said...

Sleet in harford right now

Julee said...

Just back from the doc's. No rain or snow as of now in Pikesville (41 degrees). Found out I don't have a pinched nerve,
I have a fractured pelvis. In two places. No shoveling for ME!

Needy:: You a control freak TOO? I KNEW I liked you !!!

Thank you, Foot People, for putting it out there, when those weather wimps were still saying 1-2 inches.

BioPat said...

Wow feel better Julee. It's amazing you are even able to walk with a double fracture in the pelvis.

Still awaiting the arrival of rain/sleet/anything and wondering what the outcome may be. I wonder if Andy is seeing any change since his last post.

Rufus said...

Julee ouch hope you heal quickly. it's 40 on my thermometer, heading out for a pre snow beverage with some friends...Morpheus I think I do see that so maybe we are both crazy ;)

Butch Dynomite said...

She is looking to the left?

Snowing in North east Carroll County---Manchester

Westsidehideaway said...

Still not quite cold enough in West Baltimore for whatever comes to be snow. Radar at 9pm shows the storm ushering the cold air. Or it seems so anyway. Julee, that sounds like it hurts:(( Get better soon.

Storm said...

Rain in Hampstead.....hey can someone tell Tom Brady to quit sneaking onto my driveway and letting the air out of my tires when we have those first few cold snaps up here....I hate when he does that!!!!

Morpheus said...

Sprinkling and 39 degrees in Bowie. at around 5 pm her back was to the east cost so facing the west coast...where the center of the swirl of the storm looked like a hawk or eagle fling towards her and she had big hair. Not sure where she went but if she is cold she is welcome at my house ;-).

Morpheus said...

Julie - did you take a fall on your trip? Hope for a quick recovery.

NeedaSnowday said...

YIKES JULEEEEE! Are you ok?? Now what? Limit your movement? PT? Hope you get on a speedy path to recovery! A nice snowday to sit on the sofa with some hot chocolate and good book sounds like a nice way to start!

Ok, Morph... I am looking over there-----> Full US Map... At first, I saw the whole thing as a ukulele.... then it morphed (ha!) into a laughing lil dragon...

BioPat said...

Still looks like about 6" for Baltimore but it will be an interesting call in the morning to see what the schools will do. Time will tell.

Storm said...

@Julee my mom fell and broke her pelvis a few years ago....she was in her early 70's at the time....she needed PT and it was very painful as I recall....she was in Keswick in Roland Park for her treatment.....{HUGS} and good luck to you.

Butch Dynomite said...

If it is in the air during morning rush and there is an inch or two on the ground we probably get the day. I hope you get better soon Julie .. And needa and morph have great imaginations.

Drizzling in parkville

Snowplease said...

Raining in harford still here plows going around dumping salt everywhere as it washes down the drain I swear they have zero common sense.

Morpheus said...

Needa just looked and not sure where she went, perhaps took a dip in the Atlantic. I think I can see your dragon over DE. Oh I wonder if the dragon is the woman, now that would be a neat trick.

Julee said...

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. I fell in August, didn't break anything big -- like hip/arm/leg -- so thought I was okay. Been walking on it ever since, thinking the pain was arthritis, but starting REALLY hurting this past week, could barely walk. Went to an orthopod today and ... SURPRISE!
NO snow shoveling for me ... for a lonnnnng time.
I am not a robot.

Unknown said...

Barely wet in Frederick at 1115pm...

Morpheus said...

Not sure what this storm is doing, supposed to reform off the cost, the national radar mosaic does not look that organized or impressive…beyond the backwards flying woman and dragons.

Muselock Holmes said...

Looks like the warmth is going to ruin our funny little snow party ladies and gentlemen. Mostly wet and minimal accumulation through tomorrow afternoon here in Severna Park. Unless you weather gurus see something brewing behind the scenes.....;)

Snowplease said...

Just switched to to wet snow in harford at 11:30

ravensbbr said...

Not looking good...so far...or at all? #dangit

NeedaSnowday said...

I was seconds from jumpin in shower... Then the 2 hour delay posted for HoCo.

BioPat said...

So a 2 hour late opening and snow warning gone. The storm just fell apart. OK on to Plan B!

Unknown said...

Winter warning cancelled. Womp womp. Wish I went to bed a bit earlier. :)

Westsidehideaway said...

Westside is headed into work on time. Ugh.

MF said...

Cecil on time :-(

NeedaSnowday said...

I just got out of the shower ... And then the message came out..
HoCo closed

ravensbbr said...

I stand corrected, JB's deformation zone prediction seems to be happening overhead here in NE Carroll right now. Not sure I share all of Andy's bullish outlook on this one, but not ready to go straight bear market on it either.

BioPat said...

Well schools have closed for the day; probably not a bad decision as many areas are getting snow covered roads which would prove to be a dangerous drive even at 10:00 am.
I have never seen such a group of poor drivers as those driving the school buses. I know their job is not easy but common sense things like running red lights not stopping at stop signs and excessive speeds are all things I have witnessed over the past few years. Just yesterday a bus driving down Frederick Ave at least 10 mph over the speed limit ran a red light in front of me; I am glad my child never rode a school bus. These things considered I think it is wise to close schools on these questionable days.

Unknown said...

@BioPat, I loved riding a school bus as a kid. Never had an issue (no accidents). Was in PA though.

Roads were wet coming into work but the side roads were gaining some slush. The temperature seemed to be helping keep everything wet instead of gaining any traction.

BioPat said...

I loved riding a school bus as a kid as well. We always had great drivers and they put up with no nonsense from the kids on the bus. They knew us by name and often would wait for us if we were running late. Today, I know that is probably not the case and I am sure dealing with some of the students who use the bus is also a serious issue. Nevertheless student safety remains a priority and the drivers of the school buses need to keep that in mind at all times.

Rebecca said...

Big beautiful fluffy flakes, good coverage, kids playing nicely, I'm so happy.

NeedaSnowday said...

The skies opened up here and it is pouring down snow! Road even succumbed...

I saw some pictures that Andy posted this morning on AmWx forum.. was piling up then, cant imagine what he has now!!

Morpheus said...

I've got plenty of nothing and nothing is plenty for me. Well actually it is not but what can one do. Some rain snow mix this morning and now plenty of nothing, outside of the transformation zone, nada.

Butch Dynomite said...

Big flakes moderate road stickage... Probably going to change over soon though
